I was only a little kid back then, so all I remember were fluffy hairdos that adults and teens had, stiffened with a lot of gel, women who wore big shoulder pads in dress jackets, wool leg-warmers, headbands, acid-washed jeans and jean jackets, big cheap jewelry, and too much make-up, and of course new wave music.

It's very foggy on a personal level, carpets, furniture, yellow raincoat, raindrops, curtains, fabric in general.

I remember 1984 better, mostly, because I'm living it right now.

Yes.... I turned 24 in 1981. It was a bad year, spent large part of it at sea in an old US Navy Destroyer....we spent the summer in the Persian Gulf, when the Iranians were the bad guys and we were helping Saddam Hussein, the temperature was almost a 100 degrees at 9 AM...... and we couldn't take showers for weeks because the water making system broke down..... I spent most of 1981 in hell....living in a compartment sleeping with almost 45 guys who stunk....

Yeah, I do! Half of my chromosomes where in my mother's ovaries nestled in an egg while the other half was in my father's testes swimming around in a single sperm. I can honestly say that I was in both places at once.

    Yes.

I was in Year 12. In the February of that year, my parents broke up, and my mother moved out; and lived in another city. The world had lost John Lennon 8 December the previous year....
Reagan became president; and someone attempted to assassinate him....

I spent a week in hospital. I was NOT wonderfully studious, so I didn't fare too well in my HSC. My (then) best friend got married, and had her first child......I was still a virgin......wow, that IS a long time ago.....:)

I was in Jr. High school and working 2 paper routes to afford being able to get drunk every night at age 12. I'm glad I got over drinking really early.
